Diy celestial inspired nursery

Description
The room was created for an infant boy to transform his nursery into a “big boy” room. The wainscotting bead board, along with a convertible toddler bed and dresser, were already in place. My client was looking for a “celestial” theme that was not too “theme.” This influenced the design so that the majority (although it wasn’t all) of the components in the plan were reminiscent of the celestial theme instead of being literal. This is how I like to design a child’s room, as it allows the space to grow as the children grow. Who wants to redecorate the entire room every few years?!
Design Inspiration
The idea for the design was, of course, my client’s request. From the very beginning, I knew that I wanted walls of navy. The other elements in the room would pop against this striking color. The artwork in the area was procured by me as well as the client in the beginning, and it really influenced the overall direction of the site. We made use of the bead board to bring a subtle gray color to the room and used this theme throughout the room.

Favorite Items
In addition to the grey and navy walls, I’m in love with two things in this space. First, the beautiful, handmade pendant lighting. It’s not the most impressive source of illumination. However, it’s stunning in its own right. Also, the “celestial” effect on the walls is simply stunning! Then, I was awestruck by the Gallery Wall, which includes the Moon Light that is controlled by a remote control and turns on according to different lunar phases. This is adorable! My daughter loves it!
Advice
Make sure to test the paint colors using large swatches or a painted board. The light that is in the room can really influence the color of the paint. Don’t be afraid to go with a darker shade. When paired with lighter colors like soft grey or white, it can make the space feel so warm. In addition, reflective surfaces like mirrors and metals help to reflect light into the room. Make sure to use many different types of materials and textures, like the rug, fabrics, and frames. If everything is uniform, it can appear stale and cold. Keep your “base” of the room neutral with respect to age. In this space, as “A” gets older, the rug, window treatments, and walls will remain the same. The furniture, too, can change along with him. For example, the bed can be converted into an upholstered headboard as he gets ready for the big bed!
