WATER BALLOON ART PROJECT
It’s summer! It’s summer! We’ll cool down with sprinklers and a few water balls. After doing the same thing for several weeks, it’s about time we did something different. We could fill them with paint to do some art projects. I could bring the tropical colors to my backyard to match the temperature.
We didn’t figure it out on our own, even though it was simple. I’ll tell you what we did and what didn’t work so that you can have a more enjoyable but still messy backyard creation session.
The first thing you will need are some empty sports bottles and a sports cap. Other methods didn’t work. The best bottles were the sports tops. You will need as many bottles as you have colors of paint. We used six colors. We used red, orange, yellow, and green pigments. It is not expensive, easy to find, and comes in many colors. This is perfect for this project.
To prepare the bottles to fill the balloons, I wanted the paint to be a little thinner. The color will splatter more when you pop the balloons, and it will also last longer. I filled the bottles with paint about halfway. This should be done over a sink or outside in case there are any spills. Don’t forget about wearing clothes that you don’t mind getting paint on.
Fill the bottles with water the rest of the way and shake them well. Of course, the lid must be on tightly. My daughter rearranged all the bottles, in her opinion.
While I was shopping, I also bought some Fresh Tropical Mist (TM) all(r). The scent and colors of the tropics are mixed with heat. Yes. It’s really starting to feel tropical in my backyard now! Smells and sights. This is something I could easily get used to.
You can fill up your balloons by placing one over the water bottle’s spout. It’s not necessary to fill the balloons too much. You can spray paint on yourself or anyone around you if you fill them up too much. In the picture above, you can see an orange color in the sink. Even without many explosions, filling them up can be messy. See my hands in my Instagram post. You can keep your filled balloons until you are ready to use them in some container. I recommend using them as soon as possible. I noticed that the balloons were starting to discolor. I wasn’t sure if this was a warning that the balloons would quickly burst, but I didn’t want to discover that after all that hard work.
We used a flat canvas to create our first paint water balloon creation. To do this, we placed a table in the backyard and tipped it over.
Unfortunately, this did not work. It’s not clear what happened to our water balloons, but they bounced off the surface of the table and popped as soon as they touched the grass. The balloons were filled with only water, without any paint. They popped the same way.
We are not a family that gives up easily. We are creative, and we make things happen. It didn’t take much time to make things happen. By things, I meant messy balloon painting.
The girls began squeezing balloons using their hands after we placed the canvases down on the floor. Each time they saw the color bursting through their hands and onto the canvas, they squealed with delight. It was an amazing sight.
They had no idea which color each balloon was, so they were completely surprised by the results. The kids kept popping the balloons over and over.
Do not worry about the white shirts. The shirts didn’t cost a lot, and I placed them in the bags to document what they were doing. Most of the mess ended up in their own hands.
We tried one last experiment by bringing out stick pins to pop the balloons. It was a hit! They loved it!
They finished. The tropical colors that I wanted to create in my backyard were finally found between my lawn and my canvases. As I sat outside, sipping a cool drink and watching the paint drying, it was a pleasant experience. With all(r) Fresh Tropical mist(tm), I was able to close my eyes and enjoy the tropical scent of my clothes. Your backyard can be transformed into a tropical paradise with all the sights and smells that you’d expect. Color is easy. You can use bright-colored flowers or accessories to decorate your space, or you can do as I did and give the kids paint-filled balloons.
